The test device PN-20 is designed to test and evaluate the insulation resistance of non-energized high-voltage cable lines, insulators, couplings, motors and other equipment, as well as to test high-voltage arresters with a constant voltage of 0.5 to 20 kV. The device can be used by line personnel for operational control of the insulation condition before putting the equipment into operation after installation or repair.

When measuring the loop resistance "phase-zero", "phase-phase", the device simultaneously measures the active, reactive and impedance of the loop, and also calculates the predicted short-circuit current without disabling the line protection. This is necessary to check the correctness of the set nominal value of the short-circuit protection element (circuit breaker or fuse) and determine the timely operation of this protection. The body of the device is equipped with magnetic holders, which allows, if necessary, to quickly mount the device on steel surfaces, including those with paint and varnish coatings.

The device is designed to test residual current devices (RCDs) of AC, A types. The RCD type and its rated differential current are set manually in the device. All types of RCDs that do not have an operational amplifier with threshold values can be checked using the device offline, for example, when buying, without connecting voltage to the mains.
