VALMA's electromagnetic pneumatic pilot valves of the PIV-S-F series are designed to control rotary pneumatic actuators, pneumatic cylinders or other double-acting pneumatic actuators (without return springs). These pneumatic valves are pneumatic control valves of the spool type. Unlike direct-acting valves, spool-type valves have significantly higher throughput while maintaining low energy consumption. This allows the use of the PIV-S-F series valves to control large pneumatic cylinders or in cases where high actuation speeds are required.
The PIV-S-F control valves have a pneumatic function of 5/3. This means that the valve has 5 ports and can be in one of 3 states. As long as no voltage is applied to any of the valve coils, the output ports are connected to the compressed air supply line. When voltage is applied to one of the control coils, one of the output ports is connected to the exhaust port of the distributor. When voltage is applied to another coil, the other output port is connected to the exhaust port of the valve (in this case, the voltage from the first coil must be removed).
