It is necessary to work with gelcoat in a room with an air temperature of 20 ° C and an air humidity of 60%, if these parameters change, it can lead to a change in the gelation and curing time.
When working with gelcoat, be sure to use personal protective equipment for hands, respiratory organs and eyes.
The materials on which the matrix gelcoat will be applied must be with a surface temperature of 19-22 ° C, clean, dry.
Next, the material must be mixed manually or with a mixer at low speed for 5 minutes.
For gelcoat curing, the Butanox M-50 hardener is used as a percentage of the gelcoat weight of 1.5-2.5%.
After the introduction of the hardener, mix thoroughly for 1-2 minutes. Apply the first layer of gelcoat with a thickness of 300-500 microns with a brush or a pneumatic spray.
After the gelcoat has completely dried, apply a second layer after 1 hour. After curing 2 layers of gelcoat to the state of sticking, you can start laying glass materials.
In the room where the work is carried out, high-quality ventilation should be provided, there should be good air circulation around the processed part.
Keeping:
Gelcoat should be stored indoors at a temperature of up to 25 ° C, and sun rays are also not allowed. When working with gelcoat, be sure to use personal protective equipment for hands, respiratory organs and eyes.
